our beautiful, baroque bishop’s town Fulda will once again be Europe’s billiards capital in August 2024 and we are already looking forward to your coming. We have prepared a few tips for you so that you feel at home with us.

Accommodation
Hotel Esperanto
The European Open will take place at the “Hotel Esperanto”. The hotel is centrally located and about 400 metres from Fulda’s main railway station. In addition to nice hotel rooms, the accommodation offers direct access to the city swimming pool. However, as the “Hotel Esperanto” offers special accommodation for participants of the tournament, a high occupancy rate of the hotel is expected.
Trätzhof
If you would like to get to know our beautiful Rhön during the tournament days, we recommend the “Landhotel Am Trätzhof”. In addition to hotel rooms, the accommodation also offers fully furnished flats. Check-in is possible 24 hours a day. From “Landhotel Am Trätzhof” you can reach the Esperantohalle by car within a quarter of an hour.

B&B Hotel
For those who want to save money, there is accommodation in Fulda from the “B&B Hotels” chain. Located in the city centre, it takes about a quarter of an hour to walk from the accommodation to the Esperantohalle. You can easily park your car free of charge in the hotel’s own parking garage. In addition to single and double rooms, there are also shared rooms and barrier-free options.
BäderParkHotel
If you want to combine your stay in Fulda with some feel-good time, the BäderParkHotel, which offers direct access to the Sieben Welten Therme, is the place to go. Our personal highlight there is the pool bar and the sauna area. The room rate already includes the breakfast buffet and a visit to the thermal baths. Of course, you can also visit the spa without an overnight stay. The Esperanto Hall is about eight minutes away by car.
Food & Drink
Café Glück
The name is also part of the business concept. The lovingly furnished Café Glück is a particularly good place to have a sustainable breakfast. In addition to sustainability, the products also include regional (organic) products. We can also highly recommend the coffee and cake selection. It takes about 12 minutes to walk from the Esperantohalle to Café Glück.

Heimat
In the homeland, traditional and local dishes are reinterpreted in the form of strudels, bowls or tapas and served in a modern way. Perhaps you would also like a Hochrhöner Schwartenmagen burger? It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the Esperantohalle.

Wiesenmühle
If you want to enjoy a cool beer in a rustic ambience, we recommend the Wiesenmühle. In the brewery or in the beer garden you can try the Wiesenmühlen beer brewed on site. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the Esperantohalle, and about five minutes by car. And if one beer is too many… the Wiesenmühle also offers hotel rooms.

Torro Negro
On the sixth floor of the Esperanto Hotel you will find the grill restaurant “Torro Negro”. Here you get different types of meat cut from large skewers directly onto your plate. There is also a salad, side dish and dessert buffet. After that, you can only move around on wheels.

Chaang Noi
Chaang Noi serves Thai specialities in a vaulted cellar. In 2022, the restaurant received an award from the Royal Thai Consulate General for the second time for its genuine, traditional cuisine. It takes about a quarter of an hour to walk from the Esperanto Hall to Chaang Noi.

Nightlife
Trinity Bar
Since the beginning of the year, there is once again an Irish pub in Fulda. Rustic and rather darkly furnished, you can try various Irish specialities here. In addition to the detailed interior design, you can also enjoy Fulda’s nightlife here. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the Esperantohalle.

BARock Bar
In the Barock Bar you can hardly decide between the 350 drinks on the menu. Especially for whisky lovers, there is a large selection here. In addition to the drinks, the interior design is also impressive. The walk to or from the Esperantohalle takes about 15 minutes.

Viva Havanna
Located right next to the cathedral, it takes about ten minutes from the Esperanto Hall to Viva Havana. There you can choose from a variety of cocktails as well as from the cigar menu. From the outdoor seating you have a beautiful view of the city palace.

Shopping facilities
Reinholz Coffee roasting
Coffee from Hessen’s best coffee roastery is available at Reinholz. Centrally located in the city centre, you can also try various fairly produced coffee specialities here. It takes about 15 minutes to walk along Bahnhofsstraße from the Esperantohalle to the coffee roastery.

RegioPoint Fulda
Regularly changing regional offers are available at RegioPoint Fulda. Regional traders can present their products there. From apple ketchup to onion chutney, you can find both food and non-food products here. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the Esperantohalle.

Heimatliebe
If you are looking for regional souvenirs for the ones at home, you should stop by the Heimatliebe shop. Centrally located in the city centre, you can reach the shop on foot within a quarter of an hour. Here, too, you will find many products from regional suppliers.

Activities
Clubhouse / Flutlicht Restaurant in the sports centre
By the way, we are also the home club of Thorsten “The Hitman” Hohmann.
Of course, our favourite place to spend our free time is our clubhouse. In addition to six tables, we also have a training system that can project individual training sessions onto the billiard table via beamer. You are welcome here not only during the European Open. From the Esperantohalle it takes about 10 minutes by car to reach us.
Kreuzberg
You can reach the Franciscan monastery by car within 45 minutes. You can hike up and around the Kreuzberg, or go directly to the beer garden or mountain inn (Berggasthof). There you will find, among other things, the legendary Kreuzberg beer, which we can only recommend.

Memorial Point Alpha
If you fancy a bit of German history, we recommend Point Alpha. Within 30 minutes by car you can reach the memorial site, where you can learn about the former division of Germany. Point Alpha was one of four US observation bases on the inner-German border in Hesse.

Animal Park Gersfeld
Last but not least, we have an animal destination for you. Also about half an hour away is a beautiful and very natural wildlife park. On an area of 50 hectares you can get to know and observe about 150 animals. The circular walk offers a nice balance to the stressful everyday life.
